10 Aug Virage Construction: The Latest Updates
Since construction began last fall, interest in Virage has been building, with over 79% of residences sold. The site is bustling with activity and is changing day-to-day.
The vertical construction is well underway, with building foundations completed. There are 130 drilled shafts ranging from two to four feet in diameter and up to 71 feet deep, supported by 2,560 cubic yards of concrete delivered by over 285 trucks. This represents over 10 million pounds of underground concrete to support the tower’s 71 luxury residences and unmatched amenities.
Sitting at the center of the site, our special grand oak tree is under the continuous care of an arborist and carefully protected by the construction team. At over 150 years old, the oak will be the signature element of the Virage arrival court.
The tower crane was erected during the first week of April this year. The initial height of the crane was 273 feet at highest point, to eventually be raised to build the floors 21-25 to a height of 350 feet. The pick weight capacity of the imposing tower crane is over 17,600 pounds!
Over 300 trade contractors will make their mark on the distinctive building during peak construction times of the 24-month building schedule.
As progress has been swift, there are still many construction milestones to look forward to, including the forming and pouring of the first elevated deck. With building top-out anticipated in the first quarter of 2019, completion and closing will tentatively take place the first quarter of 2020.
